RAY OPTICS 3

Theories of Ray Optics - Class 12 Physics

Theories of Ray Optics - Class 12 Physics

Module 1: Reflection of Light Reflection of light occurs when a ray of light strikes a smooth surface and bounces back into the same medium. According to the laws of reflection: (1) The angle of incidence is equal to the angle of reflection. (2) The incident ray, the reflected ray, and the normal to the surface lie in the same plane. Mirrors, both plane and spherical, are based on the principle of reflection.

Illustration
1. What is the primary principle behind plane mirrors?
2. The normal is a line:
3. What type of image is formed by a plane mirror?
4. If the angle of incidence is 40°, what is the angle of reflection?
5. Which mirror focuses parallel rays to a single point?
